Recover from Birth & Pregnancy

With Postnatal Mum & Baby Yoga

Here’s what I had to unlearn about my

postnatal recovery to actually enjoy being

a new mum - â€‹

The unrealistic expectations of me as a new mum to have it all together and to ‘bounce back’ to who I was before.

I learnt the hard way with my first baby. I learnt how to be a mum from my family and friends because that’s all I had to go on and compare myself to mums in my antenatal group. From this experience I felt like I was doing it all wrong, I wasn’t good enough and wondered everyday why everyone else had their shit together and why was I finding this so hard.

I felt guilty that I wasn’t enjoying this time with my baby and couldn’t wait to get through each phase and just get back to my old self and ‘bounce back’ to who I was before.

This experience taught me everything. It’s the reason I support mums today. I don’t want any mum to feel how I did, not good enough.

Hi – I'm Laura a Postnatal Yoga Teacher and Doula, and from my own personal lived experience with 3 boys, I am here to support you, to feel connected and create a space for you to heal and transition into motherhood.

If you’re here, I’m guessing you’ve just had your baby, congratulations!

I’m imagining you’re currently reading this at 2am on the 3rd wake up/night feed, feeling knackered and overwhelmed, thinking when is this going to get better?

You’re frustrated with all the opinions and advice from everyone around you, constantly comparing yourself to other mums who’s baby sleeps through the night (so they say) and you just want a space to feel supported, connected with others going through the same as you are, who get it and who you don’t have to explain yourself too.

You’re looking for space to recover because your whole-body aches, nothing feels the same anymore and you want support to heal.

You’re looking to spend time out of the house just you and your baby before you go stir crazy watching one more episode of loose women!

You wish someone could just pick you up and care for you and see you, validating your experience, knowing exactly what you need and be able to give you the space to breathe.

Imagine 5 weeks from now feeling part of a community so that you never feel alone in motherhood again.

Imagine understanding the realistic transition into motherhood and how to spot the unrealistic expectations of ‘bounce back’ culture so that you can recover on your terms, feeling gratitude towards your amazing body that just birthed your baby!

When you feel anxious and overwhelmed you now have the tools to calm your nervous system, so you don’t feel like escaping from reality and screaming into a pillow every time your baby doesn’t go down for their nap.

You arrive at class unflustered and phased and feel more confident in yourself as a mum.

You now know how to move your body safely and you’re on the right track of recovery, feeling stronger every day and not just physically, mentally and emotionally too.

These are the real-life identity shifts we will be making in my Postnatal Mum & Baby Yoga course.

This isn’t a generic baby class where you get ignored, this is a deep dive into the wonderful transition to becoming a mother and learning how to adapt and support yourself through it. Of course we will be incorporating your baby into the practice, we won’t be doing this alone.

They will be right by your side practicing with you whilst also making their own friends for life.

What you’ll learn in Postnatal Mum & Baby Yoga Course:

  • Guided postnatal yoga recovery tools so that you can relieve those postnatal aches and pains, helping you to sleep and move easier.

  • Learn simple key techniques on how to build stability and strength from the inside out, within your deepest core and pelvic floor, without feeling like you must take a biology degree.

  • Learn how to meditate and practice mindfulness to support overwhelm, anxiety and those intrusive thoughts that keep you awake at night.

  • How to rest your whole system through deep restorative practices because every minute of rest counts so that you can feel revitalised even on the days you’ve been up half the night.

  • Understand matrescence and why you feel the way you do in our society today so that you can confidently set boundaries that work for you and your family without the guilt or shame.

  • Sharing and building friendships for life so that you never feel alone. â€‹â€‹

  • We will also be incorporating baby yoga, baby massage, baby singing to deeply connect and bond with our babies, making motherhood that little bit lighter.

All classes are recorded and sent out via our group WhatsApp so that you can catch up on any of the practice you miss or if you can’t make it to class one week after a bad night of sleep.

The WhatsApp group is also available for you to share and chat to other groups members and arrange to meet up outside of the class, which is highly encouraged.

I’ve been teaching this course in Abergavenny for over a year now and the community is growing and growing, it’s a friendly group, most people join from my pregnancy yoga class which is always so lovely, to meet them and their babies afterwards.

This is exactly why I show up and teach my Postnatal Mum and Baby Course so that new mums, second time mums, can navigate and begin to enjoy this transformative transition into motherhood.
