Doula Support
You’re here because you’ve decided you want a doula.
You’ve read the maternity reports, you’ve reviewed your local maternity stats and you’re not prepared to take those risks on your birth. You know you deserve continuity of care, someone putting your best interests front and center, and you know you’re not going to get this from your current care provider. You’re not just going to go with the flow like everyone around you is advising; you want more for your family.
You want someone in your corner signposting you to the highest level of evidence-basedresources, allowing you to make truly informed decisions, when deciding on the care of you and your baby. I’ll be there, by your side, providing clarity so that you can meet your care provider with confidence and focus on enjoying your pregnancy, knowing that I’ve got your back when things feel difficult.
You want someone who reminds you — gently and steadily — that this is your birth.
You want someone who deeply understands your hopes and wishes for your birth, who willspend time with you talking it all through so that you can feel confident that your wishes will be upheld in every scenario so that you can focus on fully immersing yourself in your birth experience however it unfolds.
If you want grounded, evidence-based, deeply personal doula support you’re in the right place.
Hi, I’m Laura.
And I support women through pregnancy, birth and the fourth trimester, ensuring you receivebetter than conveyer belt care, I want you to feel truly connected to your pregnancy and birthexperience where you get to call the shots, so you look back with pride and joy. With me by your side I will ensure you don’t just get through it.... you own it!
I know how transformative pregnancy, birth and motherhood can be. I’m a mum of three boys, and I’ve lived through the intensity, the beauty, the vulnerability of becoming and being a mum. There were moments I felt powerful. And moments I desperately needed support.
I’ve been the pregnant woman in the appointments who left with more questions than answers.
I’ve looked back on my experiences questioning every decision I made.
Turning up to my first birth totally underprepared, uneducated and uninformed. I was totally disconnected from myself, not even understanding the sensations of labour, the system I was birthing into and how that was affecting my birth plan. At times I felt incredibly afraid and unsupported.
That’s why I trained as a doula, and I teach pregnancy and postnatal yoga today. I believe women deserve better support than they’re often given. My why is showing up to support you and provide you with my unwavering care so that you can avoid similar experiences to mine.
Here’s what I see so often.
Women arrive at birth:
Hoping it goes well, going with the flow and trying to remember what they read, unsure what questions to ask when their birth is taking a different route. They want to feel like they can do this but they’re feeling afraid and so stay stuck in the safety of what they’ve always known.
Their partners want to help and don’t want to get anything wrong or feel like a loose part in the birth room. They feel responsible but ultimately, they feel unprepared and are terrified thatsomething bad is going to happen.
Now imagine instead being in labour the lights are low, your partner knows exactly how to support you in every moment. You understand your options when decisions need to be made. You and your partner ask questions with confidence feeling informed, not intimidated becauseyou’ve done months of prep.
You’re in your oxytocin bubble and breathe through contractions knowing how your body works and how to ride the waves of intensity and navigate any bumps in the road without fear and anxiety.
That’s the difference continuity of care makes.
That’s what we will build together.
My work weaves together:
Evidence-based information and clear signposting to support your decision making so that you can handle your appointments with confidence, enabling you to uphold your birth wishes and securing the positive birth experience you deserve. Allowing you to fully focus on enjoying your pregnancy knowing all the complicated conversations are handled.
Emotional steadiness for all the ups and downs your experience may bring, I’ll be by your side when you need it most. It may look like a msg to me in the night when you’re feeling worried or a visit in your home to run through all your questions, laying out all the potential scenariosproviding you with complete clarity.
Gentle movement and breath work, to support you throughout, especially during birth when things feel intense or when you’ve had your baby and you are feeling overwhelmed and just need a moment to breathe. I’ll be available to listen deeply so you feel heard and can process your thoughts and feelings when things feel difficult. I’ll be there with you throughout, so you feel truly held knowing who you can trust.
This isn’t generic hand-holding support.
My support is grounded, calm and personal, centered entirely around YOU.
I can’t promise you how your birth will unfold.
But I can promise you this:
You will not navigate it alone.
So what does my support look like in real life?
I like to think of my doula support as holistic 1:1 care.
But what that really means for you is this:
During Pregnancy
Imagine we sit together in your home, we talk about what matters to you the most, exploring all the options and scenarios for your birth.
You will have me on WhatsApp — not just for logistics — but for the “Is this normal?” texts and the “Can we talk this through?” moments. I will be there for you when you need me the most.
You stop second-guessing yourself, you start trusting your instincts, you stop feeling like pregnancy & birth is something being done to you, you start feeling like an active participant in it.
You move from:
“I hope this goes okay…”
To:
“I feel ready for whatever path this takes.”
Even if things change, even if you need to make unexpected decisions, even if it doesn’t look how you imagined.
You'll feel confident, safe and empowered because you understand what is happening to you and all around you.
During Birth
I adapt completely to you, maybe you need massage and counterpressure, calm eye contact or someone to quietly anchor the room. Maybe you want help communicating your wishes, to allow you to remain in the birthing zone. We can practice gentle movement and breathwork, I’ll guide you into birthing positions that feel instinctively good for you and your baby to enable your labour to feel comfortable and for you to feel powerful. Imagine easing the intensity with movement and your breath reducing any fear and anxiety that arises when things feel overwhelming.
Or maybe we're at your home and you simply need someone making the tea, filling the pool and protecting your space. Your partner isn't standing in the corner wondering if they're doing it right. They're not frozen, watching you and trying to remember what the book said. They know what you need before you ask for it — when to step in and when to hold back, when to speak for you and when to just hold your hand. They're not a spare part. They're your person, fully present, because someone took the time to prepare them too.
After Birth
You’re not forgotten once baby arrives we reflect, process, we make sense of your experience. You’ll feel truly held, knowing you have someone to share all your thoughts and feelings with so that you can enjoy those early days.
I’ll be there for the practical too, I can hold the baby while you shower or fold a pile of washing, make tea and something nourishing to eat.
Whatever you need in the moment, so that you feel supported not alone.
